Luckily this is an option for some. The majority of solar solutions do not afford this luxury to a very large rental market, or even those owners in multi-storey dwellings.
I have often thought we just need a commercialised solar farm you can buy into it and reap the benefit of solar power even when you don’t own the property. Searching around this week, I found one such outfit in the ACT, https://solarshare.com.au, which for me is encouraging that we are looking at aggregating resources.
There was another mentioned in Sydney and Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, refer to http://www.allumeenergy.com.au and http://www.stucco.org.au/solar (or the ABC AM program podcast http://www.abc.net.au/…/landmark-trial-sees-sydney-…/7109336). Of course there are regulations and rules but if you live in an apartment this could be some interesting information for body corporate meetings.
If you are looking to buy an apartment, especially off the plan, ask them if they are considering or have an integrated solar resident plan.
I still like solar farms. Look at the upside, you take the solution with you wherever you go …… sounds very similar to when mobile phones became popular and the old landline solution fell into steep decline.
A note to readers. I am not paid by any of the organisations or media listed above. I do not receive any goods/services from any of them.
I do think we can do solar power solutions so much better in Australia.
Stay safe. Be smart!
